Recently whilst playing golf we were talking cooking and a mate asked how to make potato bake. Well I had a stab at it and apparently it worked out OK, so here it is.
Ingredients:
1KG potatoes, sliced 2mm
1 chicken stock cube dissolved in ½ cup water
½ cup cream
½ cup milk
1 small onion finely sliced
1 cup grated cheese
Pinch of nutmeg (optional)
Pepper
Method:
Preheat oven to 180
Mix the nutmeg, cream and milk together
In a casserole dish place a layer of potatoes
Pour over some of the stock, sprinkle some onions
Another layer of potatoes, then rest of the stock and onions
Another layer of potatoes, then some of the cream mixture, a little grind of pepper
Continue until all the cream mix is used up, should be 4 -5 layers of potatoes.
Cover with foil and put in oven for 30 minutes
Remove foil and sprinkle with cheese
Return to oven for 15 -20 minutes.
Should be nicely browned and test that potatoes are fully cooked by piercing with a knife.
